Its National Cleaning Week! National Cleaning Week is a week dedicated to celebrating the tradition of Spring Cleaning! National Cleaning Week is March 26 - April 1, 2023.

Spring is a time of renewal and it’s a great time to give your workspace a much-needed clean. The benefits of a clean working environment can be vast, ranging from improved productivity and morale to a healthier environment. So, it’s that time of year to wipe away all the dust that has settled over the winter and start fresh!

As daunting as it may seem, a little bit of preparation can make the process much easier. To help you get organized, we've put together this spring-cleaning guide to ensure no cleaning is missed and you are ready for the warmer months ahead!

ORGANIZE & PLAN:

When creating a system for spring cleaning, organization is key to making the task successful and efficient. A good way to start is by creating a checklist and assigning tasks to specific days or weeks. Prioritize the most important tasks, such as deep cleaning and organizing, and then move on to the smaller tasks. Break down the tasks into smaller steps so that each can be completed in a reasonable amount of time. With proper organization and dedication, spring cleaning can be a breeze!

A good starting point for spring cleaning is to declutter areas and check stock, before starting into the big cleaning projects. Decluttering and throwing away unnecessary items that have been hanging around can be extremely cathartic and make your space feel more open. Organizing your supply closet is also a great place to begin spring cleaning. While organizing your supply closet you can take stock of all the cleaning supplies and equipment. This way you can place an order for all the needed equipment and supplies ensuring you have all the cleaning chemicals and equipment on hand before you begin to clean your space.

FLOORS:

-Spring Floor Maintenance: Stripping and rewaxing a floor can be a strenuous and timely process, but it is important for the long-term maintenance of the floor. Stripping removes the layer of dirt or grim that may have accumulated on the floor over time and removes it. The floor finish or waxing step introduces a protective layer onto the floor making them shine like new!

-Deep Clean Carpets: Deep cleaning a carpet involves removing deeply embedded dirt and stains. This can be done using a carpet cleaner machine. This machine will use a combination of hot water, a cleaning solution, and a powerful vacuum to remove dirt, debris, and stains. There are a variety of different carpet cleaning chemicals designed to penetrate and lift deep stains! This will leave the carpet looking like new.

BATHROOMS:

-Deep Clean Grout & Tiles: The grout, or filling between tiles, can often accumulate dirt and grime over time! A deep clean of grout and tiles are necessary to prevent tiles from becoming dingy. Using a Tile and Grout Cleaner with a Stiff Scrubber is a great way to deep clean tiles in bathrooms.

-Deep Cleaning Bathrooms: Scrubbing and cleaning bathrooms to remove dirt and grime. Make sure to take extra care to clean hard-to-reach places that may be overlooked and could be harboring bacteria.

DUSTING:

-Dusting: Dusting will help improve air quality and eliminate allergens, such as pollen and dust mite matter. Wiping down surfaces and furniture to remove dust and particles. Using an extendable feather duster makes cleaning high ceilings or cobwebs from corners and the ceilings. Using a wet microfiber cloth for dusting traps and locks in dirt and dust is better than a traditional duster.

-Air Ducts & Vents: Cleaning air ducts and vents to remove dust and debris. Cleaning dust out of air vents will create less dust in the air and improve air quality for when the temperature warms up and the air conditioners need to be turned on in your facilities.

-Dusting Light Fixtures or Fans: Light fixtures and fans often gather dust through the winter months. Wiping down light fixtures and fans to remove dust and cobwebs. You can also use a vacuum to remove dust off light fixtures and hard to reach places.
